Be nice to yourself

0

Taking care of your body is important to stay healthy and happy. Falling to do so you end up being stressed or may even lead to health issues both mentally and physically. Caring for your body and giving it the time, it needs is essential for it to run efficiently and effortlessly. Cutting down on the extra sugar in coffee, climbing the stairs, getting a bit more sleep, walking that extra mile these small things do make a difference in staying fit.

Ways to take care of yourself

  • Eat clean and nutritious
  • Stay hydrated
  • Sleep well
  • Move more
  • Relax
  • Mental health
  • Emotional health

These primary things are to be taken care of. Missing out on one of these is like missing a balance in the life cycle.

Eat clean

Consume food that will boost your energy level and which helps in keeping your body functioning smoothly. Food that you consume has an impact on your body, both long-term and short-term. A poor diet adds stress to your life and causes health problems, which can make day-to-day activities difficult, cause financial stress, and complicate your life. Having a clean and balanced diet helps our body function more methodically and stay fit, which leads to a happy and healthy lifestyle.

Stay hydrated

Being dehydrated affects your energy level and your mood. It is recommended to have at least 8 glasses of water per day by an average adult. Thirst, no sweat, headache, dizziness, and dark urine are indicators of drinking water. Dehydration can lead to a number of serious health problems, such as kidney damage, a fast heart rate, very low blood pressure, a weak pulse, and so on. To begin with, one extra glass of water in your current diet makes a difference in the long run.

Rest well

Make sleep a priority. Proper sleeping habits have a huge impact on overall health and wellbeing. Make sure you get enough sleep for your mind and body. If you try to cut down on this, you might end up being less productive, failing to concentrate or stressed.

  • Try to get eight hours of sound sleep
  • Don’t eat excess sugar or oily food after 6 pm
  • Go to bed and wake up at the same time
  • Sleep in a peaceful environment with no disturbances and in a comfortable bed
  • Practising calming techniques like breathing exercises or medication helps in relaxing your mind

Move more to keep your body fit and well-groomed. It is important to incorporate exercise into your daily routine. A 20-minute medium-intensity workout is required each day.

Choose an activity that you actually enjoy-go for a run in the morning if you enjoy your own company and make use of the time to think fresh and lively. If you are a fun-loving person, do a medium-to-high-intensity dance workout with your friends or make new friends at the fitness studio. This makes you more social and keeps you engaged, and it is definitely a lot of fun, even if you are not good at dancing, because it is more of an aerobic exercise with very few dance moves.

Relax

Breathing is the first and foremost thing to be done when you need to relax. Take slow, deep breaths to calm down and go for a walk. Meditate, close your eyes and listen to your favourite song. Eating your favourite food or eating chocolate releases “feel good” hormones in our brain like dopamine and serotonin. Get a massage done, get eight to ten hours of sleep a day. Any of these could keep you relaxed and help with your mental and physical wellbeing.

Mental health

Expressing yourself and talking to people about how you feel makes you feel lighter and blithe. Learn to say “no” when it makes sense to do so. There are ways to do so politely, and that’s perfectly okay. Reducing your workload, prioritising your to-do list, and managing your time effectively will keep you healthy and sane. This way, you will be able to support your mental health.

Emotional health

Taking care of your emotional health is as important as taking care of your health. If your emotional health is balanced, then it is easier for your body to be strong and manage things yourself. Emotional balance is a must, and losing control over your emotional balance can ruin your relationships, career, and entire life. Emotional instability leads to depression, anxiety, extreme mood changes, isolation, etc.,

Taking care of yourself and pampering yourself with little treats helps to overcome this. Talking to people who really care for you and who will not judge you but just listen to you and be that moral support that you need improves your mood and makes you feel better.
