WORLD THEATRE DAY

Before social media, before viral speeches, there was theatre—a powerful, living force that fueled India’s fight for freedom. At a time when newspapers were censored and gatherings were restricted, theatre became a battleground where rebellion unfolded under the guise of performance.

In Bengal, plays like Siraj-ud-Daulah reminded people of a time before British rule, reigniting the spirit of resistance. Street theatre brought revolution to the masses, with powerful performances exposing famine, injustice, and colonial cruelty.

The Indian People’s Theatre Association (IPTA), founded in 1943, turned storytelling into activism, using the stage to speak truths the British wanted silenced. Even trains weren’t just for travel, they carried secret performances and underground speeches, spreading the fire of Swadeshi and Satyagraha across the country.

The British saw the danger and passed the Dramatic Performances Act of 1876, banning anti-colonial plays, but artists found ways to fight back, turning every performance into an act of defiance.

Theatre was more than art; it was resistance, rebellion, and revolution. Today, it remains a voice of protest, a medium of storytelling, and a reminder that words, when spoken on the right stage, can change history. Waltair Division of East Coast Railways Becomes the First to Feature an In-Train Magazine in a Vistadome Coach.

Vishakapatnam, India—Your Platform, India’s first in-train magazine, has taken a historic step toward nationwide expansion by securing a distribution contract with the Waltair Division of East Coast Railways. This landmark agreement will see Your Platform reaching passengers aboard three key trains originating from Vizag, including the prestigious Vistadome Coach. Effective immediately, the magazine will be available on the following routes:

• Vande Bharat Express (Train No. 20633/34) – Vizag to Secunderabad
• Uday Double Decker Express (Train No. 22701/02) – Vizag to Guntur
• Vistadome Coach (Train No. 8551) – Vizag to Araku

This initiative is a first-of-its-kind achievement for Indian Railways, as the Waltair Division becomes the first in the country to introduce an in-train magazine in a Vistadome Coach—a premium travel segment renowned for its breathtaking panoramic views. Your Platform will now enhance the journey with insightful, engaging, and entertaining content for passengers.

The official launch event was graced by the visionary founders of Your Platform, Mr. Praveen V, Mr. Shankar M, and Mr. Karthik PS, alongside senior railway officials from the Waltair Division, Shri Lalit Bohra, the DRM of Waltair Division; Shri K Sandeep Kumar, the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager; and Shri K Pawan Kumar, the Senior Divisional Commissioner-II, whose combined efforts have kick-started this exciting new phase in enriching the railway travel experience.

The magazine, a pioneer in providing engaging content, from inspiring travel narratives to local insights and cultural stories, has transformed the in-train experience for countless passengers. This launch promises to make every journey an enjoyable exploration of India’s vibrant culture and global trends.

Let’s be real, our planet is drowning in garbage. We produce 2 billion tons of waste every year, and most of it ends up polluting our land, air, and oceans. But here’s the kicker, 40% of the world’s raw materials come from recycled waste. So why are we still acting like recycling is optional?
The Good, The Bad & The Ugly of Recycling
●The Good: Germany is out here recycling 67% of its waste like an overachiever. South
Korea, Austria, and the Netherlands aren’t far behind.
●The Bad: The U.S. is barely recycling 32% of its waste, ranking 25th in the world. Not
exactly a gold medal moment.
●The Ugly: Plastic. We produce 400 million tons of it every year, but only 5-6% gets
recycled in the U.S. The rest? Floating in the ocean, clogging landfills, and probably
haunting turtles in their dreams.
Why Recycling is Basically a Superpower
●Recycling one aluminium can = 3 hours of TV power. So next time you binge-watch
Netflix, thank the soda can you tossed in the right bin.
●Every ton of recycled paper saves 17 trees and 7,000 gallons of water. That’s a whole
mini forest and enough water to fill a swimming pool.
●700 million tons of CO₂ emissions are saved annually by recycling. That’s like
removing millions of cars from the road, without having to bike everywhere.
So, What’s the Plan?
●Stop wish-cycling. (No, greasy pizza boxes cannot be recycled.)
●Buy recycled. (Your new sneakers made from plastic bottles are cooler anyway.)
●Hold brands accountable. (If they can make it, they can recycle it.)
●Spread the word. (If Germany can do it, so can we.)
Recycling isn’t just about saving the planet, it’s about not being the species that trashed its
