Hearts of Gold: Family Fun and Activities for Valentine’s Day

0

Valentine’s is when we express our love for our significant other. But why restrict the day to lovers? Why not share the love with our friends and family? Whether having fun making greeting cards out of chart paper, making some Nutella-filled cookies, or just playing uno, there are many ways to celebrate love with your family.

Of course, one thing you could always do, and everyone usually does, is to make cards. Get some chart papers, stickers, and glitter pens, and go crazy. Express your love in the card, and keep the cards close to your heart.

Or, whip out some trays and flour and bake some sweets with your family! Bake some plain butter cookies, or heck, make some chocolate-covered strawberries! Whatever you do, make sure you have fun with your family, expressing your creativity.

Or, how about getting moving? Compile a playlist with your family’s favorite songs, move the couch from the living room, and feel the rhythm in your muscles. Have a dance party with all your friends and family. Of course, remember the 80s romantic classics for your parents!

Heck, go outside for a relaxing picnic or a hike? Pack some chips and cakes, get blankets, or even a thermos filled with hot tea. Find a place with some nice and warm weather and take in the beauty of the outdoors while spending time with family.

For a family that would rather stay in (or, if it’s raining outside), have a movie marathon, and slump down on the couch. Choose some rom-coms to laugh over or dramas to awe about. Or, roll on the floor about the stupid soap operas on cable with the thousand PowerPoint presentation-like transitions. Remember to get the snacks and coke!

And, of course, the entire reason why this day exists – express gratitude and love for your friends and family. Go out for a nice dinner in a fancy restaurant and share what you love about every one of them. It may sound easy and small, but stuff like this gets carved into someone’s heart forever, so it matters.

At the end of the day, Valentine’s Day isn’t just about bonding romantically with your significant other; it’s beyond that. Dance like idiots in the living room, make some silly paper crafts, or just laze on the couch and laugh at the stupid soap operas; every second counts when you’re bonding with family, so this Valentine’s Day, cherish the relationships the closest to you.
