The kids at Mumbai’s Jamnabai Narsee International School got a special treat when actor Dia Mirza came by with a lifelike elephant puppet named Ellie. This was all part of a unique program from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India, meant to teach kids about empathy. Ellie will travel to different schools across India and tell the kids about real elephants who suffer in the circus. The puppet is incredibly realistic, blinking her eyes and flapping her ears just like a real elephant. Ellie has her own story, a happy one where she is rescued and now lives happily in a sanctuary. Check out PETA India’s website for more about their program and how they help animals.
